Don Vaughan, who is known throughout North Carolina for his work on clemency, recently received news that the Governor commuted the sentence of April Barber, a case that Vaughan took up seven years ago. Vaughan filed a petition with the Governor’s office on behalf of his client, April Barber. “After reviewing April’s case file, it seemed to me that it was an injustice that she was sentenced as an adult at the age of 15,” Vaughan said.
